DOS

DOS stands for Disk Operating System. It specifically refers to a single-user operating system for the personal computer. DOS is called PC-DOS to distinguish the DOS developed for IBM personal computers. MS-DOS, developed by Microsoft, is almost identical to PC-DOS and is used for non-IBM PC's.
